Incident Overview
This distressing case involves a minor victim, only 12 or 13 years old at the time, who was deceitfully brought to Delhi by her own aunt under the guise of providing a better education. Contrary to these promises, the minor was tragically forced into the flesh trade. She endured extreme physical and psychological abuse, including being beaten, burned, electrocuted, and subjected to various other forms of torture, especially when she resisted. Her plight led to self-rescue and the subsequent registration of an FIR.
Family Rejection and Current Circumstances
In a further tragic turn of events, upon returning home, the victim was rejected by her family. They refused to believe her story, largely because the main accused is her own aunt. Consequently, the victim has been living with friends and working as a helper to a makeup artist.
Legal Proceedings and Compensation
The court has recognized the severity of the victim’s experiences and has awarded her an interim compensation of ₹2,00,000. However, the deep-rooted psychological and social challenges she faces continue, exacerbated by the lack of familial support and the traumatic experiences endured.
Ongoing Support and Rehabilitation
The case is ongoing, with a focus on ensuring the victim receives the necessary legal support, psychological counseling, and social rehabilitation. Efforts are being made to ensure the proper disbursement of the awarded compensation and to provide a supportive environment for her recovery and future well-being.
